KANSAS CITY, Missouri (April 8, 2021) – The American Shorthorn Association Board of Directors met to discuss the Shorthorn breed participation at the 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress and 2022 National Western Livestock Show. The Board of Directors unanimously approved the 2021-2022 ASA Point Show System recognizing the 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress as a super national Shorthorn show and the 2022 National Western Livestock Show as a regional show. The approved show system will recognize five regions, each having two regional shows, one super regional show and one national show. Regional Awards for the five regions will use the four shows in each region for point calculations. The American Shorthorn Association will recognize one national show within each region and two super national shows for a total of seven shows used for National Award calculations. “We are excited to announce Cattlemen’s Congress as a super national show for our membership,” said Montie Soules, Executive Secretary/CEO of ASA. “Our new show system expands the available point shows to allow more breeders to exhibit across the country. We look forward to seeing our show participation grow for the 2021-2022 show season.” The complete ASA Point Show System will be announced to our membership in the May/June issue of Shorthorn Country and will be available at shorthorn.org. The announcement will include participating shows for the 2021-2022 show season and point distribution for each show level. The NALF board met last week to decide on the breeds attendance and events at the 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress and National Western Stock Show (NWSS). After reviewing exhibitor surveys, attendance levels, income for Genetics NORTH AMERICAN LIMOUSIN FOUNDATION

on Ice and the National Sale, the board has determined that NALF will conduct its annual events, shows and activities at the 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Okla. This will include the annual meeting for NALF, Genetics on Ice Banquet, National Sale, along with a Level 1 MOE show, junior show and pen show in Oklahoma. The following week, NALF will also conduct a Level 2 MOE show at NWSS along with a junior show on the hill. In addition, NALF will conduct a pen and carload show at the 2022 NWSS. Actual date of events are still not determined by each venue, but we expect Cattlemen’s Congress dates will be the first week of January similar to last year. NWSS dates are tentatively planned the following week. Once both venues have confirmed actual show dates and schedules, NALF will share that information to membership. Location Announced for National Gelbvieh & Balancer® Show and Sale. Lincoln, Neb. - The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) board of directors met March 26-27, 2021, for their spring board meeting where a decision was made about the location of the 2022 National Gelbvieh and Balancer® Show and Sale. Following the AGA National Show Committee’s recommendation, the AGA board voted to hold the 2022 National Gelbvieh and Balancer Show and Sale at the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. Exhibitor feedback and show accommodations were taken into consideration during this discussion. Cattlemen’s Congress will be the location of the 2022 National Gelbvieh and Balancer Show and Sale, along with a junior show and pen show. The AGA will share more information and schedules with its membership as it becomes available. After several weeks of committee meetings, we were able to spend time thinking strategically and focus on the future of the Angus breed. • January shows: The Events and Education Committee approved both the Cattlemen’s Congress and National Western Stock Show as Super ROV shows in 2022. Pen shows will be held in both locations. The American Angus Association will host the 2022 National Bull Sale at Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. The American Hereford Association (AHA) Board of Directors met this week during their spring board meeting to make a decision about recognition levels of the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Okla. and National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver, Colo. The AHA Board voted to host the 2022 National Show and National Hereford Sale during the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. The shows and exhibitor surveys were all taken into consideration during this decision. It was decided that Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City will host the 2022 National Show and National Hereford Sale, junior show and pen show. Following Cattlemen’s Congress, AHA will recognize the NWSS as a Regional Point Show. Red Angus Announces Plans for 2022 National Red Angus Show. DENVER – The Red Angus Association of America board of directors voted to hold the 2022 National Red Angus Open and Pen Shows at the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. This decision comes at the recommendation of the RAAA Show & Sale Committee after soliciting significant feedback from Red Angus exhibitors and breeders. A regional junior show will also be hosted in Oklahoma City. Similarly, a regional junior, pen and open show will be hosted at the National Western Stock Show moving forward. Platt City, MO - April 13, 2021 - The American Chianina Association Board of Directors met for its spring meeting last week. Among discussion were plans for events in January 2022 pertaining to the Cattlemen’s Congress and the National Western Stock Show. The ACA board of directors approved the Cattlemen’s Congress and the National Western Stock Show as American Chianina Association All-American Pint Shows for both the open and junior Chianina and Chiangus shows. The American Chianina Association -C- The Difference National Sale will continue to be held at the Cattlemen’s Congress. Actual event dates have not been deteremined by each venue, but once both shows have confirmed actual show dates and schedules, the ACA will share this information with the membership.

The shows included in this designation are American Royal, Kansas City, Mo., North American international Livestock Expo, Louisville, Ky., Cattlemen’s Congress, Oklahoma City, Okla., National Western Stock Show, Denver, Colo. and Fort Worth Stock Show, Fort Worth, Texas. - Pen shows will be offered at both the Cattlemen’s Congress and National Western Stock Show. Junior and Open Shows are offered at all national shows. - The 2022 Bright Lights Maine-Anjou Sale will be held in conjunction with the Cattlemen’s Congress, Oklahoma City, Okla. t’s the most wonderful time of the year- Junior National Season! Well, for our family, really any show season is the best time of the year. The Showtimes asked us to tell a little about our operation and how we are involved in the show industry and we are happy to share. We (Dad, Mom, myself, and my brother, Connor) live in Hillsboro, Ohio. We have a small herd of Maine-Anjou-based cattle. We sell our calves private treaty in the spring and online in the fall for the past 20 years. We have sold cattle all over the U.S., and love staying in contact with our customers and seeing their success. We also raise soybeans and hay while both my parents work full-time off-the-farm jobs. My dad is an auctioneer (who during Ohio Beef Expo usually has to run from the breed sales he works to the show ring to watch Connor and I in showmanship!), and my mom teaches high school science. My mom comes from a horse showing background (and is a former Miss Rodeo Ohio!), while dad grew up showing steers. Connor and I have convinced them showing heifers is the way to go. I am currently an 8th grader at Hillsboro Middle School. Besides showing, I am a cheerleader and involved with the National Junior Honor Society. Connor is a 5th- grade student at Hillsboro Elementary and loves playing baseball in the spring and the fall. Connor and I show Maine-Anjou and Chianina cattle at the local, state, and National levels. We both began showing when we were about five years old. My favorite show is Maine/Chi Junior Nationals,

where I served as National Maine-Anjou Princess in 2019-2020. My future goal is to become a member of the Junior Board and wear that blue jacket. Connor’s favorite show is the Ohio State Fair, but we both agree we loved the new Cattleman’s Congress. We both show other species at our county fair. I show market lambs, and Connor is going back to showing market hogs. We are both very competitive and work hard, but we cheer each other on. Don’t get me wrong, we can have some epic barn battles, but when one of us hits a goal we have or gets a banner, we are super excited. My favorite memory in the ring is a toss up between two events. Winning the Ohio State Fair MaineTainer show in 2018 was incredible. But I love showmanship, so placing 3rd overall last year at Junior Nationals was pretty amazing too! Connor says his favorite moment was winning a division at Junior Nationals. We all laughed as he went to shake hands with Dr. Duello. Connor just had pins removed from his arm and was in a sling, and Dr. Duello was on the microphone giving reasons, so it took them a minute to figure out how to shake! Our farm also keeps life interesting for us. A few years ago, in November, my show heifer, Anna, got out and decided to explore. This usually would not have been a big deal, but she wandered onto our pool deck and tried to walk on the pool cover. She, of course, ended up swimming, but we managed to pull her out! We did have to repair the pool, but man, that cold chlorine water sure made her hair pop! Those who know us understand these crazy things happen ALL THE TIME! Mom is very active in the Ohio shows. Seven years ago, she and Lindsay Bennet started the Southern Ohio Showdown. It is a nine-show fall feeder calf circuit. Each year the participation has been increasing. Last year, the Southern Ohio Showdown, with help from their generous sponsor, awarded over $40,000 worth of end-of- the year prizes. Awarding prizes is Mom's favorite part of putting on a show series! She starts buying awards in February for the November banquet. “At the January meeting of our shows, I remind the committees

that these shows are all about the kids-so make them amazing!” she says. The shows have showmanship, a fitting contest one weekend, a skillathon contest, and she is always looking to add surprises. Since the nine shows occur over eight weekends, her “volunteer” job becomes a family project, but the shows are fun and give all Ohio kids extra chances to show. If you ask Mom, she looks to leaders like Lindsey Broek of the AJMAA and the Reid family, who ran the popular Blackout shows, for inspiration to make shows great for kids. In addition to the Southern Ohio Showdown, Mom coordinated prizes for the Ohio Youth Livestock Expo. Currently, she is working with Katie Cull (of the Ohio Junior Shorthorn Association ) to host the Ohio Preview Show. This show in early May will have Shorthorn, Maine-Anjou, and Chianina exhibitors showing their cattle in preparation for Junior Nationals this summer. As if that wasn't enough to keep her busy, she is helping the Ohio State Fair update prizes/ Obviously, mom doesn’t know how to say “No” to helping kids and shows. Our lives seem to go in show circuit seasons, but we wouldn’t want it any other way. Show life is the best life, whether helping to put on a show or getting to show in one!
