Pembrook Cattle Company Matt Sims has been part of this program since 2005—but saying that almost feels too small for what he really is. He’s not just someone who’s been “with us.” He’s someone who helped hold everything together. There’s a phrase that became second nature over the years. Whenever something didn’t quite add up, whenever there was a question about a sale, a detail in a catalog, or just a gut-check moment—Travis would say it without hesitation: “I’m calling Matt.” And that was that. Because if Matt Sims was on the other end of the line, things were going to get figured out. Matt Sims isn’t just knowledgeable—though he absolutely is. He understands cattle, programs, and people in a way that can’t really be taught. But more than that, he’s steady. The kind of steady you build a business—and a friendship—around. Trust like that doesn’t come easy, but somehow, Matt earned it early and never let go of it. Travis trusted him. We trusted him. And to this day, that hasn’t changed. Because Matt isn’t just loyal when it’s convenient—his loyalty runs deep. To people, to their programs, to doing things the right way. It’s rare, and it’s real.
But if you ask what truly sets him apart, it goes beyond work. His faith is the foundation of everything he does. It shows up in how he leads, how he treats people, and how he carries himself every single day. There’s a quiet strength in that kind of dedication—a consistency that doesn’t waver. His leadership isn’t loud, but it’s powerful. The kind that influences others without ever needing the spotlight. And then there’s friendship. Matt doesn’t just show up when things are easy—he shows up, period. Through long days, big decisions, sacrifices, and seasons that required more than most people ever see. Not just him, but his family too. The commitment they’ve made to PCC is something that doesn’t go unnoticed, and it certainly isn’t taken for granted. Because when you look at it all—the years, the trust, the faith, the loyalty—it becomes clear: Matt Sims isn’t just part of the team. He’s part of the foundation. And at the end of the day, it’s simple and it’s true— He loves to Do Hard Things!! We love you, Matt Sims. And we’re beyond thankful for you and your family. ●
