Sept/Oct 2021 Fall Edition

from the editor

THIS ISWHYWESHOW THE GREATEST BLESSING

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be one of the big city magazine editors that sit at their big desk in a corner office. An editor who’s job was to delegate out the various jobs tied to putting together a magazine and only sign off on the final layouts, designs and editorial presented to them. While that form of editing may take away many of the late nights in the office or carrying of bulky, heavy cameras at shows, it would also take away the best part of owning The Showtimes along with my family. This September/October 2021 Fall Edition of The Showtimes took more than a few weeks in the office. It covers everything from the Show Steer Junior Nationals and multiple State Fairs that took place earlier this Summer to shows and sales that will take place well into the New Year. It took phone conversations and forming relationships with individuals from all facets that make up the livestock industry. A highlight of this issue was working on the feature recognizing our new Hall of Fame members, Blake and Wravenna Bloomberg. It allowed us to visit with industry great’s such as Dan Hoge to new up-and-comers such as Kyndal Reitzenstein and Ashley Judge. If I was up in my corner office, I would never be the one to have the discussions learning how two individuals have made such a lasting impact on so many or discuss with an industry icon about the importance of 4-H and FFA programs. The last few months have consisted of traveling to shows and making plans to travel to

more. Be sure to check out our full State Fair coverage throughout this issue. Not only in the show results, but in the Beyond the Backdrops featuring bios from multiple State Fair Champions! Our schedule is full as we move into the Fall between design work, catalogs and more shows to cover. We are excited to see everyone in Kansas City a the American Royal! It is always one of our favorite shows to cover. With the end of the year fast approaching, we are also opening up applications for our internships that will be available during the National Western Stock Show. More information can be found in this issue or online at theshowtimesmagazine.com. We are excited to also be launching a new line of Showtimes merchandise that will be available online by the beginning of October! With cooler weather on the horizon, our Showtimes hoodies will be a must! Check out our online store at shopshowtimes. com. I have to wrap this up to finish the remainder of the magazine such as the index and contents since sitting at that big desk to simply sign off on the finished product is not in my job description. But know this - traveling to shows, working long hours and being able to put The Showtimes Effect on the livestock industry is my family’s greatest blessing. •
