Sept/Oct 2021 Fall Edition

My name is Shelby Martin and I am from Bloomington, Indiana, where I attend Eastern Greene High School. My parents are Steve and Kelley Martin and my brother is Wyatt. This year, I exhibited the Grand Champion Barrow and Reserve Supreme Champion Gilt at the Indiana State Fair. Accomplishing these feats has meant the world to me. Winning the barrow show has been a dream of mine, and my family, for years. Then to get in the top five with our gilt was extraordinary. There is nothing like showing on “The Dirt” in the Coliseum at the Indiana State Fair. I could not have done any of this without my family supporting me and working alongside me since the beginning of my 4H career. To succeed is one thing, but to do it with people you love makes it a hundred times better. There are other people besides my family that I would like to thank. They are Brennen North, Blake and Ty Goss, Brandon and Shelby Davis, Conner Henderson, and Sam Smoot. You guys are the best and have helped my family and I tremendously. Also shout out to Cheryl and Khyleigh North for bringing all the food I eat at shows! My barrow “Chubbs” and gilt “Joni” will be impossible to forget. They provided so many great memories in and out of the ring which I will cherish for the rest of my life. •
