the fact that we were able to win the state fair as a family but most importantly, we were able to learn from our mistakes and appreciate our dedication to one another. Landrey Ever since I was a little girl I remember going to the state fair following my brother around watching his every move behind the halter. Watching him accomplish so much and be so passionate about something was so cool to me. There was no one else I looked up to more. When it was finally my turn to get behind the halter, last year, I knew I had big shoes to fill. Coming into my first time showing at the state fair this year we had no expectations set. We knew we had given it our all in
the barn all summer long, working as hard as possible. When I was chosen as Champion Semi steer it was the best feeling knowing I would get to walk through those coliseum doors, that was a huge accomplishment already for my brother and I. Walking out there I knew I wanted to give it my all and nothing less for myself and for my brother. When the judge pointed at me and shook my hand it felt like an absolute dream come true. Knowing all our hard work, time, and dedication put into it had paid off and was finally getting recognized was the overall prize for us. It’s truly something we will never forget and are so thankful we got to experience it. We want to continue encouraging kids to give it their all no matter how tough it is because in the end, your hard
work will pay off. Through this process we’ve gained so much confidence in knowing we are capable of doing anything we set our minds to. Growing up our operation has not been substantial by any means, we have had to make do with the resources at hand for our show careers. If there is anything that we can teach people through our success is that if there is a will there is a way. Our show careers have helped us expand upon our future knowing whatever path we choose, our dedication and perseverance will help us on our life journey. The lessons learned throughout our show careers will lead us to many opportunities. •
