farm I can be found on the softball diamond. I play for North Scott Lightning as a 2nd basemen and outfielder. I recently was crowned Beef Princess for the Scott County Cattlemen and am looking forward to serving that role and promoting the cattle industry. I’m an active member of the Iowa Junior Simmental Association and the American Junior Simmental Association where I have met so many great people from across the state and nation. My family has a small herd of registered Simmental cattle and my brother and I have shown competitively at the state and national levels. We also raise hogs and row

crops. My heifer, Karen, a Foundation Simmental, was recently named Supreme 4-H Breeding Heifer at the Iowa State Fair. This accomplishment is the greatest feeling I have ever felt to date. Winning the Iowa State Fair or even just being in the top 5 has always been the biggest dream for me and my family and I am still actually in shock that our dreams are now reality. I was completely surprised when my heifer got the Supreme Slap and the tears and smiles that came next were uncontrollable. I also can’t believe in only my third year exhibiting at state

fair in 4-H that I made it to the Grand Drive. My brother worked so hard his entire 4-H career and had 3 breed champions but never made it to the top. There is something very special about the Grand Drive in Pioneer Pavilion at the State Fair and whether I have had a heifer in the drive or not it gives me goose bumps each time I’m there. The flag presentation, singing of our National Anthem, the parade of heifers being announced, judges speeches, hugs, handshakes and high fives all brings tears to my eyes and are all moments I want relive again and again. From now on this will all mean a little bit more to me.
