It has turned into a year-round process with a few ‘short’ breaks between each set. WHO INSPIREDME: I would 100% have to say that I got my inspiration and current addiction to the show goat industry from Joe Raff. In 1997, I was a sales representative and territory manager for a large feed company, and as part of my job and territory, I had hosted several feed related meetings and booths at events where Joe had some of his goats. Personally, I thought that
Joe’s stock had a different look than everyone else’s at that time, and that is what initially drew me to him and his genetics. I have always been one to like different and unique and being at events where I was an outsider looking in, and not currently a part of the goat industry, I got to compare livestock with a truly unbiased opinion. At one of the meetings in his area, and after seeing his livestock several times before, I was able to pull Joe aside and quiz him about his genetics and his herd. He invited me to his ranch early that next morning, to walk and look through them. I left there that day the owner of ‘Express’, our first true wether buck from Joe, and one that really got our program started on the
