GraceHarris Oklahoma State University Grace is involved in numerous organizations including Leader of Excellence in Animal and Food Sciences, Ferguson College of Agriculture Ambassador, Meat Science Association, Block and Bridle, and National Society of Leadership and Success. She is a McKnight Foundation and Hillier Memorial scholar and participates in the honors college. She is a student worker for the Oklahoma State Meat Science Laboratory and has been involved in marketing products as well as data collection for research projects. She served as President of the Arkansas Junior Cattlemen’s Association, Secretary of the Arkansas FFA Association and was the State Winning FFA Extemporaneous Speaker and High Point Individual in Livestock Judging. Grace participated in two summer internships with Pilgrim’s Pride-JBS. She was a member of the Reserve National Champion Team and recognized as first-team All American on the OSU meat judging team and competed on the meat animal evaluation team in addition to livestock judging. Her livestock judging team won three national contests in the spring. She will graduate with a double major in Animal and Food Science and plans to further her education with a master’s and PhD in meat science. Ultimately, Grace would like to work in research and development for one of the leading protein companies in the world. HollyHeckendorf University of Wyoming Holly is President of the Block and Bridle club and Secretary of Collegiate Cattle Association at the University of Wyoming. She was previously recognized as Outstanding Agriculture Education Student at Northeastern Junior College. She
in the chapter. Mattie was second high individual overall at both the Cattleman’s Congress and the Patriot contests this year. In junior college, Mattie was High Individual Overall at the North American International Contest, Aksarben and Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic and second high individual overall at the American Royal and Dixie National. Mattie was recognized as a Junior College All American. She worked with Bio S. I. Technology which markets ruminant and equine probiotics and this internship piqued her interest in pursuing M.S. and Ph. D. degrees to investigate the interaction of immune function and the rumen microbiome. She will complete a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness in May 2022. Ty Kim Kansas State University Ty is a Kansas State University IMPACT scholar, and a member of Block and Bridle, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry. He has served on the National Junior Swine Registry Board of Directors as Vice President of Operations and has been involved with numerous national swine organizations and events including National Swine Registry, National Swine Leadership Conference, Iowa Swine Day, Kansas Swine Profitability Conference and Team Purebred Youth Association. Ty has been very involved in undergraduate research completing a project on “Utilization of Sensory Attractant Spray to Increase Feed intake and Decrease Fallback Pigs Post-weaning”. He has been a student worker at the KSU Swine Teaching and Research Center which has exposed him to all aspects of swine center management. Ty also served as a swine research intern with the K-State swine nutrition group to conduct a variety of research projects and has completed an internship with Arkfield Genetics in Nebraska. served as Coordinator of the National Western Catch-A-Calf Program, Organizer for Feed our Families Program and High School Career Path Ambassador. Holly is a student worker for the College of Agriculture Business Office and has been involved in two research projects, “Stair Step Heifer Development” with Dr. Clay Bedke and “Host and Genome Analysis in High and Low Pulmonary Arterial Pressure in Cattle” under direction of Dr. Scott Lake. Her internship experiences have included a marketing internship with Rocky Mountain Sire Service and a rangeland management internship with High Elk Ranch. Prior to the University of Wyoming, Holly judged for Northeastern Junior College and on the Colorado State Champion 4-H team which placed third in National 4-H Contest and represented the United States at the Royal Highland Judging Contest in Scotland. Holly will complete degrees in Agricultural Education and Animal Science and plans to pursue a career in teaching Agricultural Science to high school students and working with FFA programs in Colorado. MattieHaynes Oklahoma State University Mattie is a member of the Honors College, Ferguson College of Agriculture Student Council, Leader of Excellence in Animal and Food Sciences and a Feature Writer for Cowpoke News. At Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, she was Student Government Vice President, Collegiate Farm Bureau President, Agriculture Education Club President and an Agriculture Department Ambassador. Mattie received the Regents Distinguished Transfer and Wentz Honor College Scholarships upon transfer to Oklahoma State. She was the youngest board member of Jay High School Alumni Association which raised over $15,000 in scholarship support for students
