Brian’s steer Buckeye that it featured in our logo! Hewent on towin Grand Champion at the 2004 Colorado State Fair!
ince we started back on February 1, 2007 we’ve had four United States Presidents.
Every show livestock publication was partially printed in black and white. In 2011, The Showtimes was the first magazine to print in full color. Today, every publication is printed in full color. It was also the year that we upgraded our website with a company in Nashville, Tennessee that hosted websites for Toby Keith and Cracker Barrel. At the Colorado State Fair that year we awarded our first Black Showtimes Banner. I never could have dreamed how many people our banners would reach across the country. It is so humbling to receive photos of barns with entire walls of Black Showtimes Banners! In 2012 we introduced The Showtimes App. Not only was it the first of it’s kind, it also allowed users to watch show videos, read our online magazine and our powerful Pasture Sales and Show Map feature. People with the app can view sales and shows across the country from their phone. They can get directions, sort sales and shows by type and even view their websites. One of the coolest opportunities we’ve had is the Blackout Jackpot! We held our first show in 2012 with the Green and Gold Showdown. Blackout allows us to showcase our graphic design, signs and banners as well as work with some of the best people in our industry! It’s where we go big and put on a show that we would’ve loved to show at! From the smoke and moving lights, to the wild backdrop designs, scholarships and internships, it is one of the favorite things we do!
During the early years of The Showtimes, we were actively showing.
Laurie and Lisa were both in High School. I was in College. Before finishing showing in 2012, our family exhibited the Grand Champion Steer at the 2007 and 2010 Colorado State Fairs as well as had two of us on the National Junior Maine-Anjou Board! It was a unique experience to be showing cattle and also printing the Show Results at the same time. We actually even won one of our Black Showtimes Banners when Lisa exhibited the Reserve Supreme Champion Heifer at the 2013 Badger Kick-Off Classic! We were just starting our company when a recession hit, lasting from December 2007 to June 2009. We’ve gone to print and covered shows during a pandemic. We’ve seen companies come and go, show managements change and different industry trends. The livestock being shown today are completely different from those that were shown when we started. It has been really cool to see new judges, styles and the way shows are held. When we started, it was the norm to have a curtain backdrop. We lead the way introducing wild photo backdrop banners. Today, most shows use a backdrop banner instead of a traditional curtain.
