our family and something that my brother and I have dedicated a lot of time and effort towards through competing on teams in high school and college and now coaching, so when things go right it makes all the time and work put in worth it to see our kids having that kind of success. I’ve had some of my best days in Houston and also some of my very worst when it comes to the judging contest so being in
Houston instead of another contest was another thing that made it so rewarding for me personally. The first time I coached a team at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo we were dead last, literally dead last, I was humiliated and embarrassed and told myself this wasn’t going to happen again so I either needed to quit or get it together. WHAT DID IT MEAN TO COACH THE HIGH TEAM ALONGSIDE YOUR BROTHER’S TEAM WINNING THE JUNIOR/SENIOR CONTEST THE SAME YEAR? It was an incredible feeling having both of our teams win on the same day. There are so many good programs right now that it’s very hard to win at any given contest, so to be able to have both our programs win a major contest on the same day was extra special.
