all success has to be worked for. There is one thing in the Guyer barn that is constantly recited, and that is “this is a family thing.” There is not a time where it is only one of the girls. It is always something that the family does. It is a team effort in their barn, and when it comes to the daily grind, the livestock comes first. Each day looks quite a bit alike. It starts early in the morning bringing cattle in the barn, then right to the pig side to feed and walk pigs, but the day isn’t over until the cattle go back out late at night, and with it being a multispecies barn, they would like to extend

The Guyer Family has been exhibiting livestock for close to 16 years. Dave, Lucy, Ashtin, and Nalaney reside in Robinson, Illinois where their passion for the livestock industry began. This passion was instilled in the girls at a young age, as both Dave and Lucy grew up around livestock. The older the girls got, the more involved they were. They began showing pigs in 2006, and soon found that their hearts were in the pig ring, at least until they began showing cattle.
