try to stay in control of the situation and fix it yourself, or turn it over to God? Jesus teaches in Mark 4:35-41 “ 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd be- hind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!””
I can imagine the disciples on the boat were terrified when the storm came and that’s what they were focused on. Even with Jesus in the boat, they were scared and cried out to him. Jesus doesn’t promise that there won’t be storms, but he is always there with us. He will calm the storms, or carry us through the storms, but we are never facing the storm alone. The storms are temporary, but Jesus is eternal and promises to be there always. Just like a show animal getting ripped away from their buddy, we need to realize that just because we can’t see Jesus, doesn’t mean He’s not there. ●
hances are that if you’ve shown livestock for very
long, you’ve experienced barn buddies getting separated and going into panic mode. Leaving the buddy at the stalls while you head to the show ring can be a
challenge if your steer is constant- ly bawling and looking around for his buddy while he’s in the ring. Having a
buddy seems to always help them re- lax more in the trailer, eat better at the show, and rest better in the stalls, but when they get attached to each other and you separate them, it is something you have to work through to get them over it. How do you react when you lose your sense of security and go into panic mode? Who do you look for? Do you
