are looking for Angus, Simmental, Maines or Chis, “a good one is a good one” and they have something to offer you. When you ask them their type of cattle, Wayne and Barb are big on performance and it is a must that they also have the extra look and wow factor. They have an annual steer and female sale hosted with SC Online Sales in the fall. The first Monday in February is when they have their annual bull sale at the ranch. This coming year will be their 20th Ohlrichs and Friends Annual Bull Sale. One of their greatest successes is when their customers have success. Wayne says, “There’s no doubt all of us love standing there at the backdrop and that’s what we all shoot for, but when
a customer gets a female or bull from us that becomes a donor or produces a high seller for them, it means a great deal to us.” Wayne and Barb are all in on cattle and the lifestyle that goes with it. Taking off to go judge shows, go to sales and visit with the people is what they truly enjoy doing. “That is home.” One question they are always asked is “How do you work together day in and day out?” Their answer is simple, “You just do it. There might be times you don’t always agree, but it’s okay to disagree just a little bit to help make better decisions. It’s Barb and I and the cows and of course our fearless cow dog “CC”. There are no sideline incomes, no row crops, just cows and hay ground. The cows make 100% of
our living. If people would just make sure they marry their best friend, it makes life a lot easier and it’s a lot more fun.” Wayne and Barb Ohlrichs are staples to the cattle industry. Whether they are producing and selling cattle, clipping and fitting, or judging shows, their influence has had a ripple effect, and they have no plans to slow down. Both have been named Chi Herdman of the Year – Barb when she was with Deiter Bros. and Wayne when they were on their own. Both wake up each day loving what they do. “Everybody has different hobbies. They have different things they like to do. Wayne and I, we just love doing our cattle thing! GOD is very good and we are just blessed to be Livin’ The Dream”. ●
