ONE THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY IS CONSTANTLY EVOLVING. WHAT DIRECTION WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IT GO? I’d like to see us keep moving forward in a way that doesn’t lose sight of the people. Cattle will always be the focus, but the heart of this industry is in the relationships, the mentors, and the families who take others in and invest in them. I’m here today because people in this industry made space for someone with an unconventional start. I hope we continue creating that kind of space—where hard work, character, and potential matter more than where you started. TWO YOU ARE FROM A YOUNGER GENERATION COMING OUT OF THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY. WHAT FRESH IDEAS AS A JUDGE DO YOU BRING TO THE SHOW RING? I try to meet kids where they are. I’ve been in their shoes recently, and I remember how much it meant when a judge took the time to really see me, not just the calf. My goal is to create a ring where effort, growth, and integrity are rewarded. It’s not about putting my stamp on the day, it’s about helping every exhibitor walk away feeling seen, encouraged, and respected. I know what it feels like to want nothing more than to make the cut, and I also know how powerful it is when someone takes time to see you, not just your animal. My goal in the ring is to judge honestly, but more importantly, to judge with empathy. I try to recognize the work behind the project and encourage kids to keep chasing that next goal. THREE WHO HAS HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOU AS A PERSON?
