year I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I still don’t quite have the words to explain my gratitude for this industry. The people it’s brought into my life, the memories, and the lessons learned along the way. It feels surreal to say I exhibited the 2025 Champion Owned Charolais Female at Junior Nationals for the second year in a row. And while wins like that are what so many of us dream of and work toward day in and day out, this industry is about so much more than banners. As I stepped out of the ring at my last junior show in Springfield, in the best way possible. I couldn’t help but reflect not just on the win, but on the people. Every time a judge gives their final drive speech, they always say to thank the people who helped get you there. Now, it’s my turn to try and do just that. First and foremost, my deepest gratitude goes to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for choosing me to be a part of the greatest thing on Earth: the livestock industry. And for blessing me with people who have supported me every step of the way.
To my family, who have been by my side from the very beginning, thank you for sacrificing so much and putting your lives on hold so I could chase my dreams. No matter where life takes me, I know I have the best support system and biggest cheerleaders back home. “Thank you” and “I love you” will never be enough. To Zane and Allison Ward, Kelly Gaffney, and everyone who has played a hand in Rosebud Cattle Company, what a journey it’s been, from that first Simmental heifer eight years ago to Tot. Thank you for giving us a chance, for guiding us, leading us, and believing in us. There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re some of the most talented people in this business, and you run one of the most respected operations in the country. Derek Ridder, Bailey Clanton, and the entire Ridder family, thank you for letting me be part of such a special year and a truly special heifer. I had no idea the impact she would have on all of us when I bought her last April. But I can confidently say you all changed me in the best way and quickly became like family. Jack Green, a man of few words, but the biggest encourager there is.
I thank God that we get to own Tot together. I truly can’t imagine a better person to share this with. Your belief in us means more than you know. To the crew chute-side and ringside, thank you. You are some of the most talented individuals out there. Your precision, consistency, and attention to detail never went unnoticed, and I’m beyond grateful for everything you did every time we stepped in the ring. To every family member, friend, and mentor, thank you for shaping me into the person I am today. What a journey. One made possible by each of you who pushed, encouraged, and supported me every step of the way. To all the junior exhibitors, time flies. Soak it all in. Go to the shows. Do the contests. Make memories and friendships. Dream big. But more than anything, be kind, stay humble, and never forget to say thank you. Because no one gets anywhere alone. And finally, to Tator Tot—thank you for taking me on one unforgettable ride. What a way to end my junior show career. ●
