August 2025 State Fair Edition

the time the judges selected me to win the class. Once I was back in the makeup ring my parents and lots of friends really tried to encourage me and support me before going in for the division because they could tell that the judges really liked my heifer. So, just like when I get bucked off a horse, I gave it my all when I showed for Division Champion. I am thankful that my heifer acted better this time. We won the division, and we ended up achieving a goal that our family has worked towards for more than 4 decades. I was lucky enough to show RP/CMFM Wildfire M06 and she was named the Grand Champion Percentage Female in the Owned Show. She is backed with 4 generations of Rocking P genetics. Her mother, Rocking P Wildfire, is one of my all-time favorite animals. Winning the show was an amazing feeling! I was so excited and felt so blessed! None of this would be possible without my family’s dedication, great partners like Craig McCallum, the best chute crew in the barns and the breed associations

that make all the events possible for us juniors. At Rocking P, we strive to produce functional females that are not only competitive in the show ring but also make it in the donor pen once their show career has ended. A fun family fact is that over the last 20 years, my cousins, Morgan and AK, and my sister, Josie and I have exhibited the Grand or Reserve Grand Champion Bred and Owned Female in their respective breed 17 times (but never the owned show). I don’t say this to brag, but with pride. I am proud of my family’s ability to breed and raise good livestock, and I am so thankful that my sister and I get to be at the end of the halter. I truly hope everyone realizes how much I appreciate all their dedication and hard work, regardless of their role. We may never be able to top this summer, but I sure look forward to trying! ●
