GRAND CHAMPION % SIMMENTAL HEIFER

y name is Wyatt Phillips, and I reside in Maysville Kentucky with my parents, Keith and Lindsay and my sister Josie. My family owns and operates Rocking P Livestock in partnership with my Uncle Chan and Aunt Tonya Phillips who currently live in Mount Vernon, Missouri. I am the 5th generation to

sell ponies. To date I have sold about 25 ponies to young people across the United States. My small size has always been an advantage (those of you who know my dad know that his nickname is Wormie). Another passion that I have is welding. I am very fortunate that my neighbor and good friend is a welder, and he has taught me so much. I have helped him with multiple jobs across Kentucky, and I also have built many things for our family farm. Last year I was the President of my middle school FFA chapter, and I look forward to being a member of our high school FFA chapter this fall. At the American Junior Simmental National Classic we are allowed to “double enter” our Bred & Owned heifers. It just so happened that this year I showed my Bred & Owned heifer in the Owned show first. Even though my heifer is puppy-dog-broke, she tends to get a little excited when she hits the ring. farm and raise livestock on our family farm. Even though I am only 14, I understand the legacy my grandparents and great grandparents have left. What a privilege it is to work alongside my family caring for the land. Although I enjoy showing cattle, my true passion is working on the farm and caring for the cow herd. As I’ve gotten older my dad has allowed me to assist in mowing, raking, and baling hay as well as bush hogging pastures. That keeps me busy most of the summer. I also love to break and
