H i my name is Tori Crisp and I am 20 years old. I am from Union Grove, WI and have been involved in the livestock industry since I was 6 years old. This was my final year showing at the WI State fair. Throughout my show career I have been fortunate enough to have the success starting at a young age until now. This year I had a steer named Kaner. He was one that was special to me the moment he got home. He had one of the best personalities and was one that was unique. He had some success throughout the fall and winter preview shows and I couldn’t wait to start showing him in the spring. When spring had arrived we had took him to a preview show. When

going up to the ring that day Kaner had stepped on something. We didn’t know what at the time but something was off about him. Couple weeks go by and my dad is getting Kaners feet trimmed. We could not figure out what it was. After many attempts next thing you know a rock falls out. That rock had caused my dad and I some stress and was happy the problem was solved. In a matter of time we had noticed Kaner was back to his normal self but could tell he was still a little sore from it. Fast forward to state fair everything seemed “problem” free. We didn’t want anything to go wrong and just had to be sure everything was running smoothly. As we got out of class the judge was impressed from what he saw but we weren’t exactly sure if he was set on him. As soon as Kaner was

selected as champion crossbred all the emotions came through and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Then he was selected for champion overall steer and I thought to myself this is the reason to never give up on your goals! It is such an emotional, exciting, and honorable feeling to receive the handshake. It is still prevalent to this day. Not only did I exhibit the Grand Champion Steer in 2023 but was fortunate enough to also receive the following: 2016- “Brett” Grand Champion Steer 2017- “Ghost” Reserve Grand Champion Steer 2021 - “Snoop” Grand Champion Steer
