on the Phillips family farm in Maysville, KY. Phillips Cattle Company had the privilege of exhibiting and managing some of the best Simmental genetics in the breed at that time. Phillips Cattle Company quickly outgrew the tobacco barn and Chan and Tonya built a show barn on 17 acres where they operated the custom fitting service until 2006. The custom fitting service saw a lot of success over the years. At times, the crew was caring for over 140 head of show and sale cattle; luckily for the Phillips’, they had some great members on their crew that made it all seem like a breeze. Chan was able to acquire customers through word of mouth and contacts made throughout the industry. A big part of his business was derived by Doug Parke with DP Sales. The crew would hit all the winter majors, head out for the beef expo run, hit too many state fairs, then be ready to hit fall majors to do it all again. As Rocking P continued to grow, Chan had the opportunity to serve as the Farm Manager for Hudson Pines Farm in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Every Monday Chan would board a plane to New York to manage the Rockefeller’s Simmental Operation and then come back home each weekend to spend time with family. Keith was the one who kept things going at home so that Chan could travel and create new opportunities for the Phillips family. Chan stepped down as Farm Manager in 2008 as Morgan was starting high school. He served as a consultant for Hudson Pines until 2014 when he was approached by Craig McCallum with Circle M Farms. His consultant role with Circle M Farms allowed him to be at home a little more. All while this was taking place, Morgan and AK were showing at a very competitive level, mostly with bred and owned females that came directly from Rocking P cow families.
