in the cattle industry for years before that first Simmental cow was purchased, but in a different capacity. Chan’s great- grandfather, grandfather and father were all commercial cattlemen and worked in the stockyards industry. Chan’s father and grandfather owned a custom meat packing facility in Maysville, KY until 2006. Production agriculture was Chan’s passion but throwing in a little twist when the focus

was on purebred cattle and the show cattle industry. Chan caught the fever once he showed his first Simmental steer at the Inaugural North American International Livestock Exposition in 1974. It took off from there. Chan considers himself lucky to have had mentors that showed him the ropes in his early years.
