han Phillips is a long time
in the cattle industry for years before that first Simmental cow was purchased, but in a different capacity. Chan’s great- grandfather, grandfather and father were all commercial cattlemen and worked in the stockyards industry. Chan’s father and grandfather owned a custom meat packing facility in Maysville, KY until 2006. Production agriculture was Chan’s passion but throwing in a little twist when the focus
was on purebred cattle and the show cattle industry. Chan caught the fever once he showed his first Simmental steer at the Inaugural North American International Livestock Exposition in 1974. It took off from there. Chan considers himself lucky to have had mentors that showed him the ropes in his early years. People like Bill Couch and Charlie Boyd Sr. are a big reason that Chan has experienced the success
Simmental enthusiast. His love for the Simmental breed and purebred cattle industry started at the young age of 6, when he purchased his first Simmental cow in 1972. Over the last 50 years, he has accomplished things that 6-year-old boy couldn’t even dream of. Chan’s family was involved
