one from the end that seems to break, or how it’s even possible, but that’s just how it works. While it seems that you should still be able to make the fork work with what is left, it just simply doesn’t. Our lives can be a little bit like this sometimes. Everything can be going along great, and then one little thing breaks, disrupting all the good parts. The Bible tells us in Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Whatever is going wrong, whatever is hurting you, God is ready to provide comfort and healing if you lay your troubles at his feet. Keeping your troubles bottled up inside will only make them worse. God wants us to turn to Him when we are sad or depressed about something. God wants us to need Him all of the time, but especially when we are weak and hurting. Paul writes about the thorn in his side in 2 Corinthians 12 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord

to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Paul doesn’t tell us what the thorn is; all that we know is that it causes him to be more dependent on Christ. It’s okay to need help and it’s okay to admit something is wrong. We are all going to have hard times in life, but through prayer, drawing closer to God, and admitting our weakness, we can start to heal. Not everything is as easy to fix as replacing the head of the fork but talking about our problems and turning them over to God, will help fix the brokenness inside us. Don’t let one broken tine ruin everything. ■
