I am Lynsey Schmitz and I am from Oakes, North Dakota. I have always had a passion for showing and exhibiting livestock. When searching for the perfect steer for my last year I knew that this one was going to be special, but I never knew how special it would actually become. This past week I exhibited in my last steer show of my junior show career and the green shavings will forever have a special place in my heart. Traveling to the NAILE, I never would have expected to be on the halter of the Reserve Overall Steer. The steer acquired his memorable name of “Archie” from the song “We Ready” on our way to his first prospect show of the season. Archie had a personality unlike any other steer I had ever shown, and he certainly knew it. He was always there to be curious and see what he could stick his nose into.
