August 2024 State Fair Edition

My name is Kelton Arthur and I am from Stillwater, OK and will be a Junior this fall at Ripley High School. I love showing cattle but also love playing on my High School Baseball team, running track and serving as the Vice- President of the Ripley FFA Chapter. My Dad, Mom, sister Kennedy and I enjoy showing and raising cattle together. I have had the opportunity to grow up in the show cattle industry. My Dad owns and operates Lucky Strike Show Cattle and most of my time is spent at the barn or at a cattle show. I have been very lucky to show some great heifers and steers during my show career

and have learned from some of the best folks in the industry. Over the past several years I have worked to perfect my fitting skills and enjoy getting to be a part of our crew that gets my cattle ready at shows. My heifer, Birdie, has been a very special one since the first time my Dad saw her. Mark and Deb Core raised Birdie and she is out of a very successful show heifer that their daughter Kennedy showed. It takes a lot of work during the hot Oklahoma summer to get a heifer ready for Junior Nationals and I couldn’t have done it without Tyler Atwood and Chase Graham. Winning Junior Nationals is an absolutely incredible feeling and I

feel very very fortunate. It takes a team for me to be able to do all my activities and attend shows. Special thanks go out to my Dad, Tyler Atwood, Chase Graham, Garrett Stipe, Jared Boyert, Garrett Cloud, Jacob Moore and the crews at Boyert- Core and Buck Creek Ranch. Having success is always special, but especially when you are working hard together with friends. Thanks to the Simmental Association staff for hosting a tremendous event and supporting all of us young exhibitors who love the cattle business! ●
