August 2024 State Fair Edition

Hi, my name is McKlay Gensini I am 13 years old from Hennepin, Illinois. I attend school at Putnam County junior high where I will be going into eighth grade. I plan on attending High School at St. Bede Academy. After high school I plan on getting my start of a business degree at Black Hawk College. I have been in the cattle industry my entire life. One of the main reasons I started my show career is because of both of my parents. My dad and aunt grew up showing cattle and my mom grew up showing jersey cattle. Since the day I was born we have always had cattle around, so I was highly influenced to start showing. When my brother started showing I was jealous, I wanted to show too. That's when

I knew I really wanted to show cattle. Just like everyone, my brother and I did well, but wanted to win something big - so we had to work harder. In our young show career, we took a look into showing sheep. My brother and I both agreed after our first season showing sheep, we didn’t get the same thrill we did when we showed cattle. After a year of showing, I thought I would do softball but quickly realized it’s hard to do two things you love so I only play softball in the fall at school. That's when our show career really started to pick up. We realized if we really started to work hard it would eventually pay off. We have several Junior
