in class. Looking back now, it might have been the best thing that could have happened. They went home, re-racked and two months later at the Iowa Beef Expo, Mollie was selected as the 4th overall market animal. Up to that point, it would have been rare for market heifers to compete with steers. Abby continued to chase IJBBA points with Mollie that spring and summer and found a great amount of success. Looking back now, it’s very obvious there are some heifers that just create special bonds in the barn. It seems to be those that help create so many of the great memories. The junior national heifer shows continued to be a summer highlight for their family and in 2017 Jenna got 3rd overall in the Maintainer show at the Maine Anjou Junior National Heifer show. “Milkshake” was raised by the Reitzenstein family that was sold through the High Plains Gathering to Wade Rogers and then to the Tlachs. Barry maintains that ‘it’s when the water starts to get deep that you find the people that believe in your family and your goals and that want to help you swim to success’. Wade would be one of the first that really helped them believe they could find success in the show ring--something they will always be grateful for. Milkshake made the trip to AKSARBEN the first year it was held in Grand Island and was named Supreme Breeding Heifer. Now that they had found a place in the top 5 at a junior national heifer show, the goal continued, and they even added some state fair goals to that list. 2018 was the start for Abby with the Iowa State Fair 3rd Overall with her Maine Angus, ‘Iggy’. The summer of 2019 is etched in the memories for the whole family after watching Charolais and Chianina junior nationals. Jenna showed ‘Phyllis’ and was named the Champion Charolais heifer in Ft. Worth and only a week later showed
