When Libbi is asked about her show steers this year, she responds
accomplishment, or maybe the college you attended? Who are you first? Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5 “16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The Bible teaches us that we should think of ourselves as children of God first. It is a mindset that we should carry with us throughout each and every day. When we remove the labels the world gives us, we are united, and our worldly differences are not the focus. Hank has some big shoes to fill, but my last words to Libbi when she is headed to the ring, is to walk in there like she has something extra special. Walk in like a champion. Keep that attitude. We need to carry this attitude over into our lives as Christians and remember to keep that mentality, loving our God first, and loving each other. •

Her 11-year-old mind assumes everyone knows the name of the record-breaking Hereford steer that Ryder Day won all our hearts with at the 2020 Fort Worth Stock Show. Libbi’s Hereford steer, Hank, being a full brother to this Grand Champion Steer, gives him an instant identity. This identity is carried over through Libbi’s attitude when she takes him in the ring. She has a little extra confidence knowing his identity. This got me thinking, when you think of yourself, what is the first thing that you feel like identifies you?
