Bucholz, these lessons did not fully sink in until she was older. “I did not realize how much I was gaining until I became an adult,” she said. It shows up in juniors helping each other in the barns, offering words of encouragement before a contest, or celebrating a good day together regardless of the backdrop results. Salem Sifford, who spent her junior years immersed in the program, remembers that sense of belonging well. “The Hereford family is real,” she said. “I am forever grateful for the relationships, mentors and memories this association gave me.” In the NJHA, friendships are not a side benefit. Her leadership helped shape the programs, scholarships, and development opportunities that juniors depend on today. She is joined by Bailey Clanton, National Shows Coordinator and Youth Activities Assistant, who plays a key role in creating meaningful experiences at shows and events. Her understanding of what juniors need, both inside and outside the ring, keeps programs running smoothly.
