life. John and Dede live with the belief that whenever you do something, you want to be the best you can be. Don’t halfway do something. Do you really want to be the same as everyone else? According to John, “If you’re going to do this boutique trailer [Stock Market Fan Shop] we just talked about, the Pulse, Stock Show U, or make show supplies or raise cattle, I don’t want to feel like we are halfway doing anything. I just don’t feel good about that…. I know it’s the cliché some might not believe, but I just want to do it because I think it’s good for the industry.” This foundational principle carries over to their cattle business, Sullivan Farms, as well. Without the capital to start out large, Sullivan Farms happened slowly over time. By around 2000, eight to ten years after the foundation of Sullivan Supply, they had a decent cow herd and were beginning to make a name for themselves. In the past two
