Jan/Feb 2020 Stock Show Edition

I live in Denison, Texas with my wife Kim and daughter Harley. We run a small set of cattle that are various breeds with the intent of raising and selling show heifers and steers. My involvement in the industry started in Junior high showing steers and carried on through high school. This is where I generated a passion for how show cattle could and should be presented in the show ring.

After high school I attended Tarleton State University where I received a BS in Ag Education. During the four years at Tarleton I competed on the College Rodeo Team. Soon after graduating college I took the Ag teaching job at Howe High School. For the 9 years I was employed with Howe ISD my primary role as Ag teacher was to oversee the beef projects. During my time teaching at

Howe High School a good friend introduced me to Bill and Becky Rasor, WHR Shorthorns. Eventually in the year 2000 after helping at cattle shows and working the WHR Shorthorn annual heifer sale, I became full time show and sale cattle manager. Not only has this been an exciting opportunity for me to continue my passion of working with cattle, it has allowed me to meet and

help many good families across the United States and Canada. Through this job opportunity, other avenues opened for me; such as Judging various cattle shows and being able to watch my daughter grow up and have very competitive cattle showing career. The cattle industry has been a fulfilling opportunity for me, and I could not imagine doing anything different. •
