The drive and desire to win is in Ryan’s blood, but he always tries to put things into perspective for the kids he works with. “I try to tell kids, and I have to remind myself this, because you get so spoiled when you win big shows. I remember when I was a kid we didn’t get to travel around much. If I went to the Iowa Beef Expo or Sioux Falls and would have gotten off the bottom of a class or stood in the middle of the class, that would have been a big deal. Now, I go to the show, and I’m upset if we don’t win. I have to remind kids that with just winning your class or getting a piece of the breed, you should be happy for yourself instead of frustrated.” This past year, Ryan and Sam welcomed their son, Rhett. “Having a little boy has definitely changed us for the better. It is very, very special.” As a family, they are dynamite. Through their willingness to work hard and a clear vision for what they want to achieve, the Johnson’s continue to excel and raise the bar for this industry. ●
