he last few months we’ve been busy running around the state trying to find the right steers for next year. Finding the right one is stressful, even for two people that have been doing this our whole life. Of course, we’re on a budget, so once we make our choices, we’re done. We will be committed to making each one turn out to be the best we can make it. We don’t take that commitment lightly. There is so much more that contributes to success than just having the right animal, and it all takes hustle and hard work. We know that all the pieces of the puzzle have to come together to be successful. Commitment is about promising you’re going to do something and gaining a reward. The Bible is very clear about the fact that we must commit to Christ in order to have eternal life. This doesn’t mean just doing one thing here and there. It is about the way we live day in and day out. Jesus tells the disciples in Matthew 10:34-42 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. 40 “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive

a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” God sees our good deeds when we live our life according to His word. God sent His Son to die for us so that we could have eternal life and all that is asked of us is to commit our life to Him. God made a huge sacrifice for us, and really doesn’t ask for much in return. God gives us the free will to follow Him or live the way of the world. When I really think about the sacrifice that was made and dwell on that, it almost makes me feel guilty we have it so easy. If you haven’t made the decision to follow Christ, there is no better time than right now. Just say a little prayer inviting Jesus into your heart, asking forgiveness for your sins, and committing to live your life according to God’s word. As for our commitment to the steer projects for this year, we are going to give them the time and work to try to make them the very best we can, but I have to say, the commitment to follow Christ is a much better bet than our odds in the show steer world! ●
