When reflecting on the trip, junior in Agriculture Business, Avery Mather, said, “Our trip was so unique because of the strong agriculture focus and the amount of farms we were able to visit. A huge thank you to our advisors for their dedication.’’ While this travel course made it easy to draw comparisons between agriculture in the United States and Great Britain, it also highlighted the similarities. Owner of Gaindykehead Farm, John Brown, shared his words of wisdom, “At the end of the day, no matter where we are from or what country we are in, us farmers can all sit around a dinner table and discuss all the same things.”

Reflecting on Brown’s words, we learned that at the end of the day no matter what country you are in you can talk to any farmer and the issues of trade, policy, whether, and public perception will come up. If anything can be learned from this travel course it is that even though agriculture can look entirely different in another part of the world, we as producers have so much to teach each other and at the end of the day we are not all that different. •
