I’m Kathy Lehman from Shelby, Ohio and I was blessed to win the Bred & Owned Percentage Simmental Female show at Jr Nationals this year with “Bunny” or as mom now refers to her as “Champ” - a Berwick x JBOY Tammy 843 (Broker). It was the perfect end to a jr. national show career I could have only ever dreamed of. Through the years I always picked out the sets of heifers in the way I would be proudest to honestly describe them to and share them with the love of my life someday if I ever met that person. I can easily say if I ever do meet that person, I’m telling them about this bred and owned heifers’ mother “843” first.
To Jared, Jake, and Clayton Boyert thank you so much for selling us the one we call the black broker or “843”. I’ll be honest she surprisingly, at first wasn’t my favorite one in the sale. For those of you that know me well know I’m a sucker for a freaky jackpot one. At about midnight the night of the sale the boys had to give me a talk that at some point I needed to buy one that would make me a big-time donor cow and some money down the road. So, with that advice we decided to buy the black broker. Turns out you guys were right; I soon fell in love with 843 and she changed my life. To the entire Boyert Family and crew thank you for the endless advice, lifelong memories, and pasture full of incredible cows. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t walk through the pasture and think how thankful that I am that I got to meet and work with you guys. I look forward to the next chapter and getting to continue to work with you on marketing offspring. 2020 in Denver when the black broker “843” was a big yearling we stalled with Jake Bloomberg. That happened to also be the year they sold Berwick in Embryos on Snow. Jake helped me a bunch that week and we got to talking and I said, “I’ll buy 2 straws of Berwick semen to try on her if you get them to Trans Ova for me.” Jake thanks so much for your help and talking me into using that bull. As my show career is coming to an end, I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank some people that made it all possible and that will forever hold a special place in my heart. THANK YOU TO: The Grauer Family for convincing me I needed to show a feeder calf at the county fair and getting me started and addicted to this deal. To my parents for always supporting me and making all of my dreams come true. Mom, in my opinion you are the best show barn manager anyone could ever ask for. I don’t think most people would ever believe you were a city girl
