to my first Angus Junior Nationals proved me wrong. I have an Angus heifer, raised by Buck Creek Ranch in Oklahoma, that was recently crowned Grand Champion Owned Female. Up until this year I have not participated in the Owned Heifer show as competitively because our main focus has been the Bred and Owned show. Our partner Craig McCallum has allowed me to have opportunities that I haven’t had before. I also need to thank the Wallace family for helping us manage this female. As I mentioned, our priority has always been the Bred and Owned show at Simmental Junior Nationals. A fun family fact is that over the last 17 years, my cousins, Morgan and AK, and I have exhibited the Grand or Reserve Grand Champion Bred and Owned Female in their respective breed 15 times. I don’t say that to brag, but I say it with pride. I am proud of my family’s ability to breed and raise good livestock, and I am so thankful that I get to be at the end of the halter. None of this would be possible without my family, our partners, the crew at the chutes and the breed associations that make all these events possible for us juniors. I truly hope everyone realizes how much I appreciate all their dedication and hard work, regardless of their role. We may never top this summer, but I sure look forward to trying!

y name is Josie Phillips. I reside in Maysville Kentucky with my parents, Keith and Lindsay and my brother Wyatt. My family owns and operates Rocking P Livestock in partnership with my Uncle Chan and Aunt Tonya Phillips who currently reside in Mount Vernon Missouri. Over the past several years I have had great success in the show ring and fortunately most of these have been with heifers that my family has raised. At Rocking P, we strive to produce functional females that are not only competitive in the show ring, but also make it to the donor pen once their show career has ended. This year at the Simmental Junior National, I was lucky enough to show the Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Bred and Owned Female and the Reserve Grand Champion Percentage Female. After coming off a week of highs in Madison, I really didn’t think that this summer could get much better, but a trip to Kansas City
