Hi, I’m Kadie Hummel, and I’m starting my freshman year at Butler Community College in Kansas. I’ve been showing wether goats for 15 years, and it’s been an incredible journey. Along the way, I’ve celebrated some big wins, but I’m most proud of the hard work, lessons learned, and friendships forged through it all. I’ve also had the privilege of showing two Angus steers, including one my family raised that placed
3rd overall in the Land of Lincoln division two years ago. My highlights include winning NAILE in 2017, securing the ABGA Nationals title in 2023, earning reserve at Aksarben in 2024, and being named Reserve Overall/Grand Land of Lincoln Wether at the Illinois State Fair in both 2024 and 2025. Showing a cross steer was an unexpected opportunity, and winning Grand Champion Steer
at the Illinois State Fair is a cherished memory and a dream many work their entire 4-H career to achieve. Outside the show ring, I was part of the 2024 National Winning 4-H Skillathon Team, where I won the Identification Division and earned the title of All-American. Last week, I was honored as a National Proficiency Finalist for my FFA goat production record book.
None of this would be possible without my amazing family. A huge thank you to my parents, Dale and Holly Hummel, for their unwavering support, and to my siblings for setting a high standard. An even bigger thank you to Craig Benoit, who taught me the true meaning of hard work and has kept me grounded throughout this journey. ●
