raised by Rodgers Cattle Company out of Searsboro Iowa. Grizz was truly one of a kind that quickly made a big impact in our barn. Wade Rodgers has been amazing to our family and every calf I have shown has come through him. His unwavering support and help has made all of this possible. My biggest thank you goes out to Wade, his family and the entire crew….Dusty, Dalton, Austin and Mesch. I also owe a huge thank you to my family for everything they have done for me. Between purchasing the steers, hauling me to shows and helping out in every other aspect, I can never thank them enough. Dalton and I have shared so many special memories in the barn not only this year but over the past 10 years that will always be so special to me.
As always the nerves were very high and suspenseful Wednesday morning. Grizz was in one of the toughest classes of the day. After winning Division III Crossbred I was feeling very anxious for the Grand Drive that was happening in a few hours. The feeling of parading all of the division champions through, hearing the traditional Iowa State Fair music and being announced is such a rewarding yet nervous feeling. After the judge, Dave Duello, gave his final speech and began walking over to select Grizz and I as Grand Champion all of the nerves and anxious feelings left and a feeling of joy and gratitude flooded over me. This was a moment that I will never forget and cherish forever! I will be forever thankful for every single person in our corner who helped this dream of mine come true.
