Hey everyone, my name is Jake King, and I just exhibited the Grand Champion Market Steer at the 2025 Colorado State Fair. Not only did I win my last state fair, but I will finish my junior career as a back-to-back Grand Champion at my state fair! My steer’s name was Max, and he came from Jarrod Arthur and the Lucky Strike crew. It was a pretty special win with a steer that came from a great and talented group of people! I have been involved in the livestock industry for as long as I can remember. I started showing cattle when I was 9 years old and began showing pigs when I was about 11, and I have never looked back. As I write this article, I have just finished a chapter of my life that will hold a special place in my heart forever. There are no words to explain how blessed I am when I think about what the livestock industry has provided for me and taught me. I can say without a doubt that this is the best industry you can be a part of. This all started with my parents, Tyson and Shonda King. My dad grew up on a farm/ranch operation in the small town of Cope, Colorado. My dad’s father, Mason King, did not grow up on a farm or ranch. My grandpa started with nothing, but with his work ethic, he was able to start a hay business running a tractor and bale, which evolved into what we now call MT Farms. We now
