After over fifteen years of publishing The Showtimes, this Summer while at the Colorado State Fair, I witnessed one of the most special moments that sums up our tag line, This Is Why We Show. Many of you may have seen Stetson Gabel’s iconic handshake photo on The Showtimes social media after he exhibited the Grand Champion Steer in Pueblo. If a picture is worth a thousand words, that one is worth a million. What you did not see, was Stetson surrounded by his close family and friends after our photoshoot with everyone and our Showtimes banner following the show. Before he would allow anyone to leave, he made a speech thanking everyone for all of their help and support. He did not do it for any cameras or to post online. It was an intimate moment so special that I felt honored to have been standing there to witness it. This Is Why We Show. There are so many cliché things about not doing it for the banners or to win; but the fact is that it all matters. If we didn’t strive to win, we wouldn’t learn the lessons that go with falling short of those goals. If we didn’t have goals to achieve, we wouldn’t understand why families and friends giving their time to support us is so special. The life we all live is not an easy one. To do it right, you must make sacrifices.
The people we are fortunate to cover and market for in The Showtimes do it right. Make note of that as you flip through the pages of the magazine. This issue is filled with the crème de la crème of the livestock industry. Whether you are looking for top notch genetics, products, or services, you will find them here. I encourage you to tag pages, make calls and network with the people featured in the magazine as you strive to win. To follow suit with Stetson, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is and who has ever been a part of The Showtimes.
