What do you want your legacy in the breed to be? Supporting the youth and the future of the Suffolk breed for without the youth involvement, there is no future for the breed. What is the most meaningful thing the breed has done for you? Suffolks have been a massive family hobby that has bonded us. First by introducing Bill and Betsy and then uniting us as a team with Chris and Kyle as we traveled across the United States showing at junior shows. After all, there is nothing like family bonding time in the barn and on the show road. Why have you committed to the success of the Suffolk Breed and/or it’s related organizations? We want the Suffolk breed to regain the strength and popularity it once held in the sheep industry. By focusing on the strengths Suffolks provide as terminal sires and as a fast growing meat breed, the resurgence of the breed is inevitable. What advice would you give a new breeder or junior member? Pick the type of sheep you like to look at in your pastures! Focus on structural soundness and maternal ability and the rest will fall into place.

from Bill’s parents. Our children, Chris and Kyle grew up raising and showing Suffolks and both are still involved in our little family hobby. The Suffolk breed has changed dramatically over the years and our flock has evolved as well. Currently, structural soundness, fertility, mothering ability, easy fleshing and longevity are the main criteria on which we focus. Why did you choose Suffolks over other breeds (or other species)? Bill had no option in the matter. Betsy selected Suffolks for their ease of lambing, mothering ability and high-quality carcasses.
