Hello, my name is Danica Prins, from Iona, Minnesota. I am currently a Junior at South Dakota State University pursuing my bachelor’s in Animal Science with minors in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Marketing. This October I had the privilege of winning the 127th American Royal Market Steer show with my steer “Creed.” Growing up on my family’s commercial hog farm in southwest Minnesota, I spent the first six years of my show career showing pigs.
Showing pigs was a big part of our lives and something my brothers, Cameron and Carter, and I shared together. I had always wanted to show cattle as well, and in 2022, I had the opportunity to connect with Blaine Rodgers and his family, who helped me get started showing steers.
