was high individual overall in the Colorado FFA state livestock judging contest and state extemporaneous public speaking competition. Austin judged for Butler Community College on a team recognized as National Coaches Association Team of the Year and recently was a member of the winning KSU team at the American Royal. He will graduate with a degree in Animal Science and Industry next May and plans pursue a Master’s degree in Agricultural Education to prepare for a career in teaching at the high school level. Current and former Animal Science and Agriculture administrators from across the country served as judges for the awards. The judges for 2020 included Dr. Mark McCann, Assistant Dean for Extension at the University of Georgia; Dr. Jim Heird, former Dean at Colorado State University and professor at Texas A&M University, Dr. James Kinder, previous Department Chair and professor at The Ohio State University; Dr. Bill Able, former coach at Kansas State University and Department Chair at Mississippi State University and Dr. Maynard Hogberg, former Department Chair at Michigan State and Iowa State Universities.

Justin will graduate with a degree in Animal Science and Industry next May and hopes to work in the Animal Health Industry initially before eventually returning to his family’s farming and ranching operation in Indiana.
is completing a degree in Agriculture and Applied Economics and plans to pursue a career in agricultural finance as either a loan officer or financial advisor immediately following graduation. She is the fifth generation of her family to live and work on the Bill King Ranch in central New Mexico with over 1500 head of registered Hereford, Angus, Charolais and commercial cattle. Abby hopes to eventually return home to live and work on the ranch.

Abby serves as Treasurer of Block and Bridle, Treasurer of the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Aggie Society and an Ag Ambassador at NEO. She is Fundraising Chair and served a three-year term with the National Junior Hereford Association Board of Directors. She also served as President of the New Mexico Junior Hereford Association and is a member of the American International Charolais Association. She was a delegate to the World Hereford Conference in New Zealand and a member of the USA team which placed third overall at the event. This past summer she served as an intern with Farm Service Agency and with political campaigns in Torrance County, New Mexico. Abby
Austin has served as Coordinator for the K-State 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes competitions, as Event Planner for KSU Junior Beef Producer Day and as a member of Ag Ambassadors and Collegiate Farm Bureau. Austin held internships with Purina as Genetic Supplier VIP and Trade Show& Events intern and with Sullivan Supply’s Stock Show University Programs as Professor of Beef Cattle. He was a delegate to Beef Improvement Federation Research Symposium and Convention. Austin was also actively involved in the Colorado and National Junior Angus Associations.
