sale bulls every year. In college, the livestock judging program opened the door to so many wonderful people in the cattle industry. While at Kansas State University, I worked for Mid-Continent Farms before their steer and heifer sales. The Stewart family was my home away from home while I was in college. Not only did they keep my freezer full of hamburger, which was huge for a broke college kid, but they also had a major impact on my involvement with show cattle. After graduating from Kansas State, I stayed involved in different ways, working for various people at the majors and building lifelong friendships with people in the business. One thing I love most about the livestock business is

the people in it. There is a comradery and bond shared that is second to none. The common ground of hard work, dedication, true grit, and having to pick yourself up, dust off, and try harder the next time creates a connection like no other. Once I moved to Texas, I stayed very involved in selling steers and helping kids learn daily care, feeding, and showmanship skills. Working with the youth has been extremely rewarding for me. My primary role today is being a show mom to Libbi. Seeing the passion she has for her steers, and her willingness to go the extra mile without being told, makes my heart so full. I am so grateful for everything this industry has given me over the years and give God all the glory. ■
