May/June 2023 Junior National Edition

beginning. From the first time we saw him we knew he was a special creature. When it came to showing him last summer, he lead us to the winners circle every show with a Grand or Reserve banner. Watching this steer progress over the year has been one of my favorite things. With the fine tuning, he was ready for Houston Stock Show where he finished his show career stronger then I could have ever imagined . Being down on the floor at the Houston Rodeo was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my entire life. When Dr.Greiner, slapped my steer to be the 2023 HLSR Grand Champion Market Steer, I went into complete and total shock. I was completely and totally speechless. I felt that as if all of my dreams and goals had been achieved.

Moving onto the sale the next day I walked the Grand Champion “aka” King. Through the sale ring and brought 550 thousand dollars. When that gavel dropped it set in that, that this was real. I couldn’t have done any of this with out my God, my family, Justin, and my crew. I will cherish that feeling forever! I will forever be so thankful that God let the stars aline . It was St.Patrick’s / Green Day on the Houston green chips in my Lucky Green Shirt. My Favorite quote I try to live by: “NEVER LEAVE YOUR DREAMS ON YOUR PILLOW”

Where to begin, Stiles Patin I’m incredibly proud of you and the person you have become in and outside this industry. I’ve been blessed to be by your side for 7 years through the hard losses to the big wins. The good Lord has blessed us with an incredible career together as a team. With one year left to go we have accomplished the dream of a lifetime. I’ve had the pleasure of watching and helping you evolve into a mature showman and a humble winner. We left on Saturday night March 11 to head to the staging lot with hopes and dreams of what eventually unknowingly would become our reality. When you received the Grand Champion Slap at the Houston Livestock show and rodeo Friday night on March 17, 2023 will be a night we will never forget. I remember looking at the Jumbotron and just

saying “we finally did it”. The tears of joy that poured down all of our faces that night made all the hours, late nights, early mornings, worth it all. Stiles told me that night “I can’t believe we did it” The overwhelming support from our friends and family that night before prejudging and going into the rodeo was unbelievable. We are blessed by God with the most amazing people that surround us and we are forever grateful for the support. “King” the Grand champion steer was a special animal to us all. King’s personality was so cool and he was always so easy and willing to work with Stiles he had the heart to win. King did his job, and that night will be a time that we remember forever. Stiles and King you two rocked it. I’m blessed to be apart of it. Thank you for the ride of a lifetime. ■
