Nov/Dec 2022 Year End Edition

I started exhibiting swine in 2011 as a Cloverbud at the Meade County Fair, that is where my passion for the swine industry began. In 2016 I joined the National Junior Swine Association. By becoming a member of the NJSA, I have had the opportunity to travel and compete in shows across the country, including The American Royal. The first time I attended the American Royal in 2018 I set a goal to one day just make it to the sale, I never dreamed I would be Reserve Overall Market Hog. It was both rewarding and humbling to be a part of the grand drive and the youth livestock auction. Reaching your goals and walking away with a banner is definitely a great experience, but there is so much more to showing livestock and

being a part of this industry. By attending these shows I have developed lifelong friendships, learned the meaning of healthy competition, and learned the value of working hard to achieve your goals. Aside from learning the value of hard work, setting, and meeting your goals, I have also learned how to rise above failure, which I believe is a valuable lesson as well. I am currently a junior in high school and my future plans are to attend college and major in animal/veterinary science in hopes of becoming a veterinarian. Aside from showing pigs I enjoy hunting, golfing and hanging out with friends. •
