my family. Ever since the day we started working with her in the showbarn, I knew something about her was different. Her name also holds a special place in our hearts. Most females that we raise at Bar A Cattle are named after special family members for their name sake. When my dad was registering our heifers last year, he turned to my oldest brother, Tyler, and asked,” How do you spell Haley?” At the time this was my brother’s fiancé and now wife. Both Haleys have been truly special to our family, and even before the I Do’s happened, Haley knew she was a part of the family for good. WHO WE ARE My family has 3 businesses, Bar A Cattle, Genesource, and Brand Company. Bar A Cattle is a purebred Hereford operation in Nocona, Texas that has two sales a year in April and October. Genesource is a cattle semen distribution company and The Brand Co. is an Apparel/ promotional products business helping Ag businesses. Our start in the Hereford business was in 1977 with the purchase
of 2 Hereford Heifers for Dave’s older brother Mark’s 4-H project. My dad Dave, my uncle Mark, and their sister Jen were all active in the Hereford breed until the early 90’s when all three graduated from college. It was a natural decision for my parents to involve me and my brothers in the Hereford breed and has been the best decision ever made. Tyler moved home after graduating from Texas Tech and has been essential in running Genesource along with helping me with my show cattle with his wife Haley. Mason was on the Texas Tech Livestock judging team and just recently graduated from Texas Tech and will be the assistant judging coach at Texas Tech while working on his Masters. I’ll be a freshman at Prairie Valley High School. I'm active in many sports, but showing cattle is my true passion. I want to thank anybody that has ever helped along the way, whether that was fitting on Haley or helping break her down after the shows. We couldn't have done any of this without the support of so many in and out of the barn.
