August 2026 State Fair Edition

Some moments change the way you see yourself forever. For me, that moment was when the judges came around to slap my heifer, Gypsy, Champion. In an instant, years of hard work, determination, and hope became something real. My name is Breckyn Bloomberg, and I am 14 from Secor, Illinois. I was fortunate enough to be named the Grand Champion Purebred Simmental Heifer at the 2026 AJSA National Classic! Winning the Simmental Junior Nationals has been a dream of mine since I started showing cattle. The Simmental breed has deep ties for my family, so this was an extra special honor as I have heard all about the history and tradition of the National Classic for years! Winning with “Gypsy” on the end of the halter was even more exciting. She has been my barn favorite ever since she arrived. Her sassy attitude and cool blaze face marking make her very eye catching! She was raised by our family friends, John Sullivan and Sullivan Farms. I would never have been able to accomplish this without several people in my corner. In addition to those who bred and helped get her ready, I would also like to thank Lucas and Newt Wisnefski and all of the Cardinal Cattle Crew. I would also like to thank my Uncle Jake and Aunt Hannah Bloomberg for helping Dad pick out the heifer at Nate Tice’s sale. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents Blake and Wravenna Bloomberg. Without your love and support I wouldn’t be where I am today. Showing livestock is never easy. I have had my fair share of challenges. But moments like what I experienced in Grand Island will stick with me forever. It’s this kind of motivation that will keep me pushing towards my next goal! ●
