Biscuits
INGREDIENTS • 16oz tube of ground Breakfast Sausage • 1/4 Cup Flour • 3 cups Milk • Salt and Pepper To Taste Gravÿ
INGREDIENTS • 2 Cups all-purpose Flour
• 1 Tbs Baking Powder • 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda • 1 Tsp Salt • 1/3 Cup Lard/or Shortening • 2/3 Buttermilk or Regular Milk with a Tbsp. of Lemon Juice Added
DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
DIRECTIONS 1. In a large skillet cook the ground sausage until browned and crumbled into small pieces. 2. Over Medium/High heat sprinkle flour over sausage and drippings in the skillet and stir in. Gradually stir in the milk and continue to stir while it simmers. As it cooks it will thicken. If it is too thick add more milk. Salt and pepper to taste. 3. Make the gravy as the biscuits bake. Once out of the oven take one or two biscuits and break them in half. Ladel on as much gravy as you would like and enjoy!
2. In a large mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Cut the lard/shortening into small pieces and add to flour mixture. Using a fork or hands break up lard into small pieces and equally distributed in flour. 3. Using a fork gently stir in milk until just combined. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently by flattening out and folding over to help create layers when they bake (do this 4-5 Times). 4. Roll out or pat dough to approximately ½” Thick, use a 1 1/2 “– 2” circle cuter to cut into biscuits. Gently roll scraps together as to not have waste. Place one 1” apart on an ungreased parchment paper lined cookie sheet. 5. Bake until golden brown about 12 min
