TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM

This has been a truly memorable year for myself and the Texas Tech University Livestock Judging Team, and I greatly appreciate The Showtimes crew for the opportunity to highlight the success of our students. Watching this group grow together as competitors, teammates, and people has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This year’s team includes Mason Allan (TX), Dakota David (TX), Kinsey Gardner (TX), Jack Habjan (KS), Cade Haggard (AZ), Lexi Hunt (AZ), Paige Lemenager (IL), Bradie Midcap (CO), Jayce Meyring (NE), and Blake Janssen (OK). Ten students from seven different states, each bringing a different story, set of experiences, and passion for the livestock industry. What’s made this team special is how those differences have come together to form a tight- knit, selfless unit that embodies what it means to wear the Double T. Every day, this team shows up with the mindset to get better. Whether in the classroom or at practice, they’ve displayed a relentless commitment to

improvement, not just as judges but as young professionals who represent Texas Tech University with integrity and class. Their consistency, accountability, and respect for one another have been the backbone of this season’s success. The Red Raiders were named High Team Overall at the Cattlemen’s Congress, National Western Stock Show, Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest, Aksarben Stock Show, State Fair of Texas, and the American Royal. Along the way, the team also celebrated High Individual Overall honors at eleven contests. Yet, what truly stands out about this team for me isn’t just their success on the judging floor. It’s their character, their work ethic, and their willingness to put the team ahead of themselves. They celebrate each other’s successes, pick each other up on tough days, and understand that the greatest rewards come from shared effort. They’ve set a new standard for what it means

to compete with humility, grit, and purpose. The Texas Tech Livestock Judging Program has a proud tradition of excellence, built on decades of hard work and a culture of continuous improvement. Each team adds its own chapter to that story, and this group has certainly left a lasting impact. Their achievements this season are a reflection of the values we strive to uphold selflessness, consistency, and a commitment to always doing things the right way. I couldn’t be more proud of this group of students, not only for what they’ve accomplished judging, but for the kind of people they are becoming beyond it. Their future is bright, and I’m confident the lessons they’ve learned here will serve them well long after their judging careers conclude. If any young livestock judge has questions about our program or the opportunities here at Texas Tech University, please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime at skyscott@ttu.edu.
