everything right and still lose. This applies to birthing new baby lambs to uncontrolled experiences you can have in the show ring. My mom and dad always tell me; you take the good times and thank the bad ones for the lessons.” The show barn is a family affair for the Black’s. Each member of the family playing a role, all working in harmony for a common goal. The family’s determination and commitment to their sons’ animals are apparent. Taking lessons and experiences from their past and applying them to ensure there is very little left to error. They contribute their successes to surrounding themselves with intelligent, like-minded individuals and consistency. Brisco is well known across the country, not just for his fortunate successes, but his enthusiasm and excitement are infectious. The passion he has for the game is evident. “I really love my animals. The goats become a part of our family. They are my friends. I love everything
about showing, you can tell from the pictures I’m sure, but I just get so excited and fired up. It’s the best feeling in the world being out there. You work so long and hard for those few minutes, when it all comes together, it means everything to me.” While the show barn is now his primary focus, he still assists in day- to-day management alongside his family. “This year I began homeschooling so I can spend more time in the barn and on the ranch getting better at showing and spend even more time and attention with my animals. I am also a member of the Brown County 4-H Livestock Judging Team and greatly enjoy what this sector of the industry offers and learning about evaluation. One day I want to raise sheep with my parents and continue what we have started with the Dorpers. Outside of showing, I really enjoy hunting, bass fishing and searching for Native American artifacts on the ranch.” Brisco has had a tremendous career already as a young kid. His
